How to fit everyone in a family photo
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerArrange people in rows at different heights (sitting, kneeling, standing), curve the rows towards the camera, use the widest lens your phone has from a stand, and use a timer or remote so you’re in it too.
Arrange
- Front row sitting or kneeling, back row standing.
- Tallest at the back centre.
- Curve the rows so edges aren’t further from the lens.
Camera
The back ultra wide (0.5×) fits the most. Keep faces away from the very edges where wide lenses stretch.
Get in it
Timer of 10 seconds, or a remote or Apple Watch. Take several rounds; someone always blinks.
Questions
Front or back camera?
Back camera on a stand for big groups: wider and sharper.
A camera built for this
Music Wide Selfie is an iPhone camera app: the widest front view your iPhone supports, with your music still playing.
One email when the app is ready. Nothing else.
